A dictionary with room to explore.

WordSift uses a balanced list of 61,233 dictionary words, based on 12dicts. Abbreviations, acronyms, proper names, and specially marked uncommon forms are excluded. Two- and three-letter results receive an extra familiarity filter. This intentionally leaves out some legitimate rare words. Use all letters finds exact anagrams. Use any letters finds words of 2 or more letters from your available letters, including full-length matches. Neither mode adds letters or reuses a tile more times than supplied. Single words only; phrases and proper names are not the focus. No dictionary contains every possible word, and game-specific acceptance can vary.

Find words using all or some of your letters

An anagram rearranges a word’s letters to make another word. For example, LISTEN can become SILENT, ENLIST, INLETS, or TINSEL. Switch to Use any letters to also discover shorter matches such as LINE, NET, and IT. Results are grouped from longest to shortest, then alphabetically.

Does the solver use every letter?

In Use all letters mode, yes. In Use any letters mode, letters may be left over. Both modes respect repeated-letter counts, and the original word can appear if it is in the dictionary.

Can I use repeated letters?

Yes. Each letter is counted separately. LETTER requires two Es and two Ts; entering LETER cannot produce LETTER.

Can I find shorter words or multi-word phrases?

Select Use any letters to include shorter words of at least 2 letters. Full-length matches are included too. Multi-word phrases and wildcard or blank tiles are not supported.

Are these words valid in word games?

Game dictionaries differ. This balanced list favors familiar words and is not a complete tournament word list. Check the rules and dictionary for your particular game.

How do I clear my letters?

Select Clear next to the letter entry, or press Escape while typing. Your letters and results reset so you can start another search immediately.
